....and the Marine Corps showed up.
A couple of legacy F/A-18 Hornets belonging to Marine Squadron VFA-204 “River Rattlers” out of Louisiana. They made a two-ship pass down the runway, turned on the downwind leg, then came around to land on the “carrier.” I have a lot more photos from today, but it will take a day or two to get them all edited.

The Marine Corps and old hardware. Name a more iconic duo.

I’m jelly. There is an air show in Fort Worth this weekend. I can’t go tomorrow, but I was thinking of leaving super early to go on Sunday. Weather might be fubar, though.

Don’t look too closely or you’ll see the duct tape and bailing wire holding those Hornets together.

The F-16s here in Burlington were doing some crazy climbs today. Basically climbing straight up right off the end of the runway on full afterburners.

I had a guaranteed flight contract but nobody was retiring at the time so they didn’t honor it! My dad flew Prowlers and Phantoms.

I saw a Prowler at Dyess AFB a few years ago, of all places. Loudest damned jet over ever heard.
